Moreno is facing State Senator Matt Dolan (R-Chagrin Falls) and Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose in the GOP primary. All three candidates are vying to unseat incumbent Democrat Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH).
Trump endorsed Moreno in December, calling him at the time “exactly the type of MAGA fighter that we need in the United States Senate.”
“Remember, we need a successful political outsider like Bernie to defeat Liberal career politician Sherrod Brown, who has so poorly represented Ohio,” Trump said at the time. “Don’t be fooled by Sherrod Brown. He is a Radical Left Liberal who will always let you down. He does not stand for Ohio Values, and never will. Bernie Moreno, on the other hand, will ALWAYS put America First.”
Moreno is also endorsed by 15 Republican U.S. senators, including the Buckeye State’s own JD Vance (R-OH) and most recently North Carolina U.S. Senator Ted Budd (R-NC).
A recent poll conducted by SurveyUSA showed Moreno two points ahead of Dolan, as the businessman received 29 percent compared to the state senator’s 27 percent. LaRose received 21 percent of the vote while 23 percent of voters said they were undecided.
Early voting for the March 19 Primary Election in Ohio runs through Sunday, March 17.
Polls are open on election day from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
